WordPress installation

☝️ Note: If you had the free version installed, and you want to install the Pro version, check out this documentation first.

Upload on admin panel

Step 1

Download the Smart Slider 3 Pro zip installer from our website. (Or the free version for WordPress from here.)

Step 2

Go to your Plugins → Add new → Upload Plugin and browse the zip file you just downloaded.

☝️ Note: If your zip file contains UNZIP_FIRST in its name, then unzip the file first and use the zip file inside it!

Step 3

Press Install Now, and if the installation was successful, click on Activate Plugin.

☝️ Note: If you are getting an "The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini." message, follow the FTP installation method instead!

Step 4

Now you will see the Smart Slider 3 Pro plugin appearing in your plugins list. After activating it, you will see the Smart Slider menupoint appearing in your left WordPress menu.

If the installation wasn't successful, try out the Upload through FTP method instead.

Upload through FTP

Step 1

Download the Smart Slider 3 Pro zip installer from our website. (Or the free version for WordPress from here.)

Common installation errors

Upload max filesize

⚠️ Error There was an error loading this file to the server. The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

If you can see an error message like this, when you are trying to install Smart Slider, that means that your server has a low upload_max_filesize or post_max_size limitation. You should contact your server host and ask them to raise these server values for you!

An alternative could be the FTP installation method, but a low upload filesize limitation can cause many issues in the future too, so we rather suggest getting this resolved with your server host.

The filename starts with UNZIP_FIRST

Error message:

Installing plugin from uploaded file: UNZIP_FIRST_smartslider3-wordpress-PRO-3.5.1.4.zip

If the Smart Slider installer you're trying starts with UNZIP_FIRST then you need to unzip this file first and use the zip file inside, which name starts like this: smartslider3-wordpress-PRO-, without any UNZIP FIRST text.

Where is the ftp of my website?

When you purchased your website from the hosting company you have received an email with the ftp account to be able to access its folders and files. That is the account you need, and for example with Filezilla you can access your ftp.

If you are not sure what your ftp account is, contact your server host and ask them for it!
